I love to cook, but I get my cables mixed up when I see kitchen appliances. I am a crafter, and it is so hard to see utensils, appliances, and cooking spaces reserved solely for cooking. It has taken me years to separate both worlds, finally building my craft space—a haven I now call our Workshop.
Lately, I’ve been experimenting with my KitchenAid Artisan Mini 3.5 Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer. This little powerhouse has revolutionized how I craft my amazing Whipped Body Butters. Among the skin-friendly and soothing ingredients I’ve been incorporating are jojoba butter, rosehip butter, argan oil, fractionated coconut oil, jojoba oil, hemp oil, avocado oil, sweet almond oil, rice bran oil, and vitamin E. The results? Luxurious, fluffy body butters that glide onto the skin like a dream.
I love this machine. It’s a beast and so easy to work with, effortlessly blending the oils and butters into perfection. Unfortunately, I don’t have a second one for my kitchen, which means I can’t use it for cooking. That’s okay, though, because I’ve made a strict rule never to share crafting appliances between my business and home kitchen. Keeping them separate ensures that the tools remain hygienic and dedicated to their specific purposes.
Crafting, like cooking, is about precision, creativity, and passion. But it’s also about having the right tools for the job. As Ten Inch Smile Soap and Candle Works grows, I’m constantly learning how to optimize my workspace and streamline the creative process. Whether it’s installing a utility sink, finding the perfect mixer, or experimenting with new ingredients, every little improvement contributes to the bigger picture—beautiful, high-quality products inspired by the art of brewing and distilling.
